How to Help Participants Identify Their Next Tiny Step

Updated: 10 April, 2024

A Next Tiny Step is the Single, Easily Doable, Tiny Action you commit to do at a specific point in time to get you started making progress on your project or goal.

A Next Tiny Step is a starting point.

Here's the process and questions I ask to help people identify the Next Tiny Step.

1. What is the project or is your big goal you working on right now?

2. Imagine you and I are suddenly transported a week into the future. We are chatting and you are telling me about the phenomenal progress you have made this week. What would you be telling me about what you've achieved?

3. How do you imagine you would be feeling about having made this sort of incredible progress?

4. Now imagine that you are going to start working on your goal right now. What would be the first single, easily doable, tiny action I would see you do? What would be your Next Tiny Step?

5. If you were going to open your calendar right now and choose a time to take your next tiny step, when would that be?

6. Great. Are you clear on what your Next Tiny Step is?

7. Great. Are we done?
